Summer is in full swing and you know what that means… it’s travel time! Don’t let this summer pass you by without getting out there and experiencing a new place (or an old favorite!) with your best friend. What’s the simplest way to make sure you get your travel on? Set goals! Here are five summer travel goals for you and your pup to make the most of the season.

1. Go Somewhere New

Now’s the time to check a new state, national park or landmark off your bucket list! Just ask yourself two things – where have you always wanted to go? And, is it a dog friendly location? If your dream destination is pup-friendly, then what are you waiting for?

When traveling to a new destination, it’s a good idea to make sure you’re extra prepared for any possible scenario. Check out our guide to packing your pet’s travel kit, here!

2. Visit an Old Favorite

If there’s a place you already know you love going with your four-legged friend, there’s no reason not to go back! Oftentimes, visiting a regular vacation spot means less travel stress and more time to relax and play with your pup. It’s a win for everyone!

3. “Travel” in Your Own Town

Don’t have the time, energy or budget to go out of town this summer? Don’t let that stop you from making summer memories with your furry pal. Plan a “stay-cation” in your own city and take a day or two to explore your surroundings. Who knows, you might find a new favorite spot or activity in your own backyard!

4. Go Somewhere Dog-Focused

Want to make your vacation all about your pooch? There are plenty of destinations that offer dog-focused activities and travel plans. Whether you take a day at the doggy spa or go on a hike with a group of pups and their two-legged parents, you’ll have a blast and so will your best friend!

5. Cool Off in the Water

It’s summertime – taking your pup to play in the water is a given! When you start planning your next getaway, think about choosing a destination where your furry friend can play in the water (safely!) as much as possible. This is especially important if you’re going somewhere very hot!
